In Pursuit of a Round Melon

Many of you know about Jacob's plagiocephaly woes (fancy word for flat spot on his head). We've been to see the pediatrician, the neurosurgeon, and the orthotist, and Jamie and I agreed we would get baby boy a helmet to fix his crooked melon. He started wearing it Friday, and that sweet child does not mind it one bit. I think he looks precious; the "chops" squeeze his cheeks together and make him look extra chubby. Of course, when we came home with it, Jordan immediately piped up about wanting a helmet :-)

So, I know he's going to get a lot of looks when we're out and about (he has to wear it 23 hrs/day), and I thought I might have some fun with the questions people are going to ask. Yes, yes, most people mean well, but sometimes stupid questions warrant a stupid reply. So, vote for your favorite explanation for "Why does your baby have that contraption on his head??"

- It's so the aliens can't communicate with him (hey, this is New Mexico)

- His mother is a super klutz, and this is insurance in case she drops him on his head

- We're preparing him for a football career

- He likes to accessorize

- His parents are uber geniuses, and this keeps his head from growing too big

But seriously, we'll give the real explanation: we love him (and right now, that head looks like a Pablo painting)

I like the sports angle. I say your husband is a famous rugby player and this helmet gets his son in the right direction.
