As much as my kids have days where they're absolute terrors, they also have days of remarkable sweetness. Today Jacob helped me unload the dishwasher. He was so proud of himself, and I was proud of myself for letting him. I don't usually (ok, never) let my kids do stuff where they could break something, or cause a huge mess. I never let Jo help in this way, and I'm afraid I've raised an unhelpful kid. Maybe if I raise Jacob to be a celebrated helper, Jo will turn into one, too.
This morning, Jo was extra sweet to her Daddy. She hasn't been feeling well for they last several days. Some sort of stomach bug. Last night she was pretty miserable, and Jamie put her to bed early. He laid down with her forever because she couldn't get comfy and had a hard time falling asleep. This morning, when he was getting his hugs and kisses good-bye, Jo says, "Daddy, thank you for taking care of me last night." Aw... melts our hearts.

Girl....
Jordan had an announcement after school one day this week. She lifted her shirt, rubbed her chest, and informed me, "Mama, my boobs are getting bigger." Awesome.
Yesterday was a rough day for her. We had a walking field trip to Dion's, a local pizza chain. She'd complained her tummy hurt after breakfast, and again at Dion's, only eating one bite of pizza. How sad to feel bad on a field trip! And one involving pizza! Jacob ate enough for both of them. She played fine at the park afterwards, but was drooping on the walk back to school. By the time I picked her up at the end of her day, she'd gotten a bloody knee and torn her leggings at afternoon recess. She was asleep in the car before we got out of the parking lot. Today she's fine.
It's kind of nice to see them have those not-so-hot days; it reminds me that she IS still so little, even if she is imagining her boobs are growing.

New Year's Resolution
After a 7-month hiatus, I'm going to try to keep up with the blog. I hate that I've missed recording so many of the events from Kindergarten, Jacob talking, and our many travels this year. I'd like to think that what I've missed in blogging I've made up in photographing. I think that's probably pretty true.
I have some predictions for this year, for our family. We will be as busy as ever. We will travel a bunch, but with an emphasis on family travel vs. "exotic" travel (we've already mentally written off our planned trip to Spain). Jacob will start talking his fool head off. Finally. Jordan will be reading by the end of the school year. Jamie will train for something big. And I will savor the little time that remains of my stay-at-home motherhood.
Can't wait to see how our year goes!
